How to embroider a jacket back?
In this tutorial, you will learn how to get a colorful piece of embroidery on the back of jackets and then stitching for the best practice. Here, we use a simple denim jacket for you to show it turning into a masterpiece.
Material used:
1- Machine
The materials we used to embroider a jacket back is an mt-7S15 needle, commercial embroidery machine and also the table that comes with the machine supports the weight of the jacket.
- It is perfect to embroidered a jacket back because along with the flat table it also comes with a sash frame that can fit a design of up to 21 by 14 inches.
- Also this is a 15 needle machine and our design has a total of 15 colors which means that we don’t have to spend time changing the thread colors.
2-Sash frame
We are using the sash frame because of the thickness of the jacket. With the sash frame, it is easy to spread the fabric and clamp down on the jacket to get it hooped very tight and smooth. You can also use your standard hoops but with the design being so large, we were able to achieve tighter hooping with the sash frame for backing.
3- Stabilizer
Some people prefer to use tearaway and some cutaway. During testing we used one sheet of 1.5 oz cutaway because the fabric was already thick enough to support all of the stitches.
4- Needle
We also used a 75 by 11 needle but if the fabric was any thicker we would have used an 80 12 needle.
Process:
Step 01
To start we have our tearaway and our 1.5 ounce cutaway we’re just going to put this one to the side. First center your leather jacket. It is very important otherwise your design might be crooked and that’s not a good thing especially when it’s for a customer.
Step 02
Now that we have our hoop installed onto the machine we are going to go ahead and load our design. Go to the file key and locate the design file. It’s a very large design so sometimes it might take a little bit to load onto the machine but don’t worry patience is key.Â
Step 03
Now we are going to set the embroidery machine speed at 850 spm. The reason why we do this is to prevent any shredding. Since we are using metallic thread in one of the steps, do not do a thousand stitches per minute when using metallic thread, because when it shreds it does not look cute at all. So now we’re going to choose our hoop for the sash frame, choose the other hoop and press ok. And after it’s done adjusting the hoop, you’re going to hear three beeps. The design is now loaded, so I’m going to go ahead and rotate my design. The reason why I do this is because the collar is on this side so we have to rotate it. So it’s not upside down now you’re going to hear three beeps that means your design is ready to start.
Step 04
Now we’re going to go to our color selection tool. Enter embroidery status and go ahead to trace the design. Now that we have the design traced nicely and it’s perfectly centered so we are ready to embroider.
That’s how you can easily embroider your favorite jacket as a part of your decorative outfit for any event.
